A syncretic figure combining the Greek god Hermes and the Egyptian god Thoth, Hermes Trismegistus is credited with authoring the Hermetica, foundational texts in alchemical and esoteric thought.

Crowley was a “polymath,” meaning he was an expert in many different fields. He was a poet, mountaineer, artist, and explorer, but he is most famous for founding a religion called Thelema.
